Filipino is a language I learned to love in college. I stumbled into it during my Philippine Collegian days, and enrolled in a few Filipino courses in UP (including one on translation) for good measure. Getting exposed to great Filipino translations of poems I previously encountered in English deepened my ardor. Soon, I was dabbling in poem translations myself.
I'm starting this blog for several reasons:
[1] to send my clumsy attempts at translation out into the world;
[2] to share far better translations by far better translators with other struggling translators out there;
[3] to motivate me to keep translating and keep honing my facility in Filipino; and
[4] because everyone needs something other than work to keep them sane!
